The Prince Edward Island signs a contract to forbid vaping
A tax agreement was negotiated by the Prince Edward Island government with the intention of deterring vaping.
The government and Ottawa signed a Coordinated Vaping Products Taxation agreement, according to a news release from the province. For the first 10 millilitres of vaping material in a product, a joint tax rate of $2.24 per two millilitres will be applied.
For volumes above that, $2.24 per 10 millilitres will also be added.
According to the announcement, the tax rate is not dependent on whether the drug includes nicotine and is intended to discourage teenage vaping.
The deal will go into force on January 1, 2025.
